Pushkar festival

Pushkar Fair is the annual five-day camel and livestock fair, celebrated in the town of Pushkar in the state of Rajasthan, India. It is one of the world's largest camel fair apart from buying and selling of livestock, and its highlights have become competitions such as the "matka phod", "longest moustache", and "bridal competitions" are the main draws for this fair which attracts thousands of tourists.

By Air : The closest airport is at Jaipur and is 146 km from Pushkar.

By Rail : The nearest railhead is Ajmer.

13 km away from Ajmer lies the sacred town of Pushkar. Located on the edge of the Thar desert in Rajasthan, it is home to the holy Pushkar Lake and only Brahma Temple in the world. The Pushkra Fair is a grand expression of the cultural heritage that Rajasthan is known for. It is held in the month of November every year.

Attraction

Pushkar Lake

This holy lake is surrounded by around 52 ghats, four hundred temples and numerous palaces. Every year in November, the lake is flocked by pilgrims from far and wide to take a holy dip in this lake. Legend goes, that the lake was created by Lord Brahma when the lotus fell down from his hand. During Kartik Poornima famous Pushkar festival is organised here.

Brahma Temple

It is the only temple in the world dedicated to Lord Brahma. Inside the temple one can see four-armed idol of Lord Brahma. In the temple, devotees offer coins to mark the birth and death of their near and dear ones.

Savitri Temple

The temple is devoted to Savitri, the wife of Lord Brahma and lies atop in the Ratnagiri Hill.

Varaha Temple

Built in the 12th century, the temple has an image of Varah, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It was reconstructed in 1727 by Raja Sawai Jai Singh of Jaipur. The temple is known for its intricate carvings and sculptures.
The Mahadeva Temple, and the Man Mahal are also worth visiting.
