Munnar

Munnar is a popular hillstation in South India. Situated at the confluence of three mountain streams - Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala, this hill station was the summer resort of British Government. It is also home to Anamudi , the highest peak in South India ranging to 2695 mtrs. Anamudi is an ideal spot for trekking. Munnar is famous for its Neelakurunji plant which attarct the visitors the most. The hill station also presents a spell binding beauty every twelve years. The Christ Church of Munnar is the main attraction of this hill station. Besides this, it is a leading tea producing centre and one can see around thirty gorgeous green tea plantations in Munnar.

Attractions

Kuthumkal Waterfall

The alluring Kuthumkal waterfall is the most frequently visited site here. The foggy waterfall cascading down the mountain presents a majestic look and attract the visitors.

Christ Church

The church was built by the Britishers in 1910 A.D. The church is known for its stained glass windows. It also houses several brass plaques made in the memory of the tea planters.

Mattupetty

This lake and Dam is situated at a height of 1700 m above sea level. One can see several tea plantations from the lake. The major attraction of Mattupetty is the Indo-Swiss Livestock Project, it is a highly specialized dairy farm. The dam is surrounded by the Shola forests and is ideal for trekking . One can also enjoy boating in the reservoir.

The Observatory Hills

These hills are situated in the Nedumkandam area of Munnar and are known for tranquil atmosphere. Visitors enjoy the pollution free air and greenery of these hills.

Echo Point

The place is known for its unique natural echo phenomenon.
