Jaipur is also called the 'City of Forts' and once there you will know why. In every nook and corner of the city you will find forts and palaces singing the praise of Rajput warriors. Apart from forts there are museums , lakes and gardens which attract tourists all the more. A camel ride in the thar desert is a must for adventerous travellers.

Hawa Mahal
Built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, Hawa Mahal is the landmark of the city. It was built for women to see the processions on the road without being observed by others. Interestingly there is no entrance from the front, rather it's at the back. It looks more like a giant screen rather than a palace. The glimpse of its exclusive architectural beauty can be seen at sunrise.

The City Palace
City palace is famous for its exquisite blend of Mughal and Rajput architecture. The palace is so vast that it covers a seventh part of the city. While a section of the palace is still the residence of the Royal family , other sections are open for public. It houses structures like Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Badal Mahal, Shri Govind Dev Temple. The museum of the Palace is the real treat, it has special sections devoted to arms and ammunitions, textiles and costumes and art and artefacts.

Jantar Mantar
Jantar Mantar, Jaipur

Jantar Mantar is among the five observatories built by Maharaja Sawai Singh. Jantar Mantar is the finest example of development of astronomical science in the past. It's considered to be the largest stone observatory in the worls . The instruments here were used to measure local time, sun's declination, determinig eclipsese etc. and give the most accurate reading.

Nahargarh Fort
A visit to Jaipur would be incomplete without a trip to Nanhargarh fort. Apart from symbolising the glorious past of the city , this fort gives you a stunning 200degrees veiw of the city.

Jai Garh Fort
Jaigarh fort was built in 1726 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh for bolstering security. The highlight of Jaigarh fort is Jaivan, world's largest cannon on wheels. The fort also houses an armoury and a museum.

Amber Fort
This fort built in red stand stone and white marble is a fusion of Hindu and Muslim architecture. It offers veiws of the Maota lake below.

Cuisine
This elaborate cuisine is the speciality of Rajasthan. It is usually served as a thali with a range of chutneys. Bajra and corn are used for preparing, khichdi, chapatis and rabdi. The most famous Rajasthani dish is a combination of dal, bati and churma. Jaipur is also famous for its sweets, ghewar and mishri mawa.
