Nainital

The hill station is bounded by the Kumaon hill ranges and is called the Lake district of India. One can see many huge lakes here of which the most famous is the Naini Lake. Named after the Nanda Devi, the hill station is known for its tranquil atmosphere. Snow covered mountains, alpine forests and lakes all makes it an exotic hill station. Autumn festival celebrated here in October is a great time for enjoyment.

By Air : Airport is situated at Pantnagar, 70 kms away from Nainital.

By Rail : The closest railway station is Kathgodam, 34 kms from Nainital and comes in the North Eastern Railway.

By Road : Nainital is connected by National Highway No.87 and has good road network.

Attraction
Naini Lake
Naini Lake or Naini Taal is the major attraction of Nainital and is also called Trishi Lake. The eye shaped lake, surrounded by hills offers a breathtaking view of the snow- white peaks.

Nanda Devi Temple
It is situated atop Naina hillock on the banks of Naina lake and is dedicated to Goddess Sati Naina Devi. In October, festival is organised here in the honour of the Goddess Naina.

Snow View Point
Snow View Point, NainitalIt is close to Nainital and can be reached by ropeway or ponies. Being situated at an elevation of 2,270 mtrs above sea level, it is best for trekking.

China Peak
It is the highest peak and is located at a height 2,611mtrs. It offers an enchanting view of the Himalayas and the town.

Hanuman Garh
It is located at an altitude of 1951 mtrs and is close to Nainital. Built by Baba Neem Karauli, the temple houses a 12 feet statue of Lord Hanuman. It is also an ideal spot to watch the sunset.

Location
The hill station of Nainital is situated at an elevation of 1,938 mtrs in the Kumaon hills in the state of Uttaranchal. It is 277 kms away from Delhi.

Best Time to Visit
It is best to see the beauty of Nainital in the summer months especially from March to June. One can also visit this hill station in September-October when Autumn festival is organised on the honor of Nanda Devi with full zest and fervour.
