Manali


40 kms away from Kulu town lies the lovely hill station of Manali. Surrounded by the Himalayan mountains and pine forest, the hill station is known for its tranquil atmosphere. It is also an ideal place for the adventure seekers with lots of thrilling opportunities such as mountaineering, skiing, hiking, paragliding, kayaking, mountain biking, rafting and not the least trekking. By Air : The closest airport is at Bhuntar and is 52 kms away from Manali.

By Rail : The closest railway station to Manali is Jogindernagar (135kms) and Chandigarh(310kms).

By Road : Manali is connected with Chandigarh, Shimla, Dharamshala and other major cities of Himachal Pradesh with regular bus services.

Attraction
Hadimba Temple
It lies amidst the forest in Dhungiri Van Vihar. This four-storey wooden temple is dedicated to the Hadimba, the wife of Bhim. The temple is also called the Doongri temple and is known for its intricate carvings. Annual fair is also organised here in May.

Vashisht Village
The village is popular for its sulphar springs having medicinal properties. Inside the village visitors can also see the temples of Lord Rama and sage Vashisht.

Jagatsukh Temple, ManaliMountaineering Institute
This institute imparts training courses on climbing to both Indians and the foreigners. Training includes both basic and advance modules and can be choosen upon one's interest. Other sports activities are also conducted here such as high altitude trekking, mountaineering, rock climbing and skiing.

The village is famous for its old temples. Visitors must see the Gauri Shankar temple here which is supposed to be the earliest stone temple in this area.
