Pushkar festival

Pushkar festival is a happening event in the desert city of Rajasthan. Organised every year in the holy town of Pushkar in November, this seven day fair, draws lots of tourists to take a holy dip in the sacred waters of the Pushkar lake. The dazzling festival begins on Noami and ends on Kartika Poornima. One can see thousands of camels, cattle and horses bought and sold in the annual cattle fair, the prime attraction of this festival. People from different parts of the country gather here to trade in all kinds of cattle. Cultural programmes, camel races, folk dance-music, colorful bazzars are the part of this fair. Pushkar Fair

By Air : The closest airport is at Jaipur and is 146 km from Pushkar.

By Rail : The nearest railhead is Ajmer.

By Road : Pushkar is well connected by road.


Venue & Time
13 km away from Ajmer lies the sacred town of Pushkar. Located on the edge of the Thar desert in Rajasthan, it is home to the holy Pushkar Lake and only Brahma Temple in the world. The Pushkra Fair is a grand expression of the cultural heritage that Rajasthan is known for. It is held in the month of November every year.

Attraction
Pushkar Lake
This holy lake is surrounded by around 52 ghats, four hundred temples and numerous palaces. Every year in November, the lake is flocked by pilgrims from far and wide to take a holy dip in this lake. Legend goes, that the lake was created by Lord Brahma when the lotus fell down from his hand. During Kartik Poornima famous Pushkar festival is organised here.

Brahma Temple
It is the only temple in the world dedicated to Lord Brahma. Inside the temple one can see four-armed idol of Lord Brahma. In the temple, devotees offer coins to mark the birth and death of their near and dear ones.

Savitri Temple Savitri Temple
The temple is devoted to Savitri, the wife of Lord Brahma and lies atop in the Ratnagiri Hill.

Varaha Temple
Built in the 12th century, the temple has an image of Varah, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. It was reconstructed in 1727 by Raja Sawai Jai Singh of Jaipur. The temple is known for its intricate carvings and sculptures.

The Mahadeva Temple, and the Man Mahal are also worth visiting.
