Goa Carnival

The most eagerly awaited event in Goa is the exotic carnival which continues for three days and nights. Gifted by the Portuguese, the carnival today pulls in thousands of tourists in large numbers. Held in February, the carnival is celebrated with colorful dance, music, feasts and lot of merry making. It offers a healthy entertainment with lots of enthusiasm and happiness. Carnival begins with a processions where man and women can be seen walking on the streets in fancy dresses and beautiful masks headed by Momo the legendry king. Getting There
By Air : The nearest airport is at Dabolim and is 29 km from Panaji.

By Rail : Konkan Railway connects Margao and Vasco da Gama to all the major cities.

By Road : Goa has an excellent networks of road and it is easy to move around in Goa.

Goa carnival is a vibrant festival of songs, street plays and dances which reflect the lively culture of Goa. It is unique and exclusive to Goa. The carnival is held in the month of February every year.

Attraction
Basilica of Bom Jesus Church
This World Heritage Sight is located in the old Goa and was built in 1605.The Church is known for the brilliant architecture. It is home to the relics of St. Francis Xavier and people from far and wide come to visit this church.

Aguda Fort
The fort was built in 1612 by the Portuguese mainly for the defence purpose. Fort is known for its natural springs and the lighthouse.

State Archaeology Musuem, Panaji
The musuem has on display coins, manuscripts, paintings, sculptures, statues, clay art and other rare objects. It also includes seven galleries namely the Christian Art Gallery, Sculpture Gallery, Sculpture Gallery, Banerji Art Gallery, Religious Expression Gallery, Cultural Anthropology, Contemporary Art Gallery and Western Bronzes Gallery.

Cabo Raj Niwas, Goa Cabo Raj Niwas
Built in 1540, it is close to fort Aguada. It is also home to Franciscan monastery. Now it acts as a official residence of the governor of Goa.

Besides this Goa is also known for alluring beaches and temples.
