biking is full of pleasure for the adventure and sports loving tourists.
Climbing the mountain on the bike is really thrilling. Himalayas, Ladakh,
Himachal Pradesh and Uttranchal are perfect to go for mountain biking.
Mountain Biking is easy in the foot hills where as difficulty increases as
one moves to the higher altitude. Short as well long mountain biking are
enjoyed by the tourists depending upon their interest and physical strength.
For mountain biking months of June to September is best.

Major Biking Route
Mountain Biking in Ladakh
Leh and Manali highway provides great opportunity for the mountain bikers.
Bikers can enjoy splendid Ladakh plateau while biking on the 485km long
highway. Bikers have to cross four mountain passes namely Taglang La Pass,
Lachlung La, Baralacha La and the Rohtang pass. Bikers on the way to Manali
first stop at Upshi which is 49 km away from Leh. After taking a short
break, bikers moves to Taglang La pass which is 109km from Leh. Halt here
for some time and enjoy the beauty of nature and then continues to Morey
plain and Pang which is 184km away from Leh.

Here bikers can see gorges on the road which make the biking difficult.
Stay here in the night and in the morning start for Lachlung La pass, which
is located at an altitude of 5,060m . Number of bends can be seen on the
road between Lachlung La pass and Sarchu and requires slow biking here. Stop
at Sarchu and relax a bit and then proceed to Baralacha La pass which is
situated at an elevation of 4883m. Next destination of the bikers is the
town of Keylong which is near Tandi. From Tandi, highway changes its course
and moves towards southeast to Manali. Bikers covers Gondla, Sissu, Khoksar
and Gramphu in between Tandi and Rohtang pass(3978m). Bikers reaches Manali
after crossing Rohtang pass.
Mountain Biking in Himalayan Ranges
Tourists can enjoy mountain biking in the hills of Himalayan ranges
especially in Haridwar, Rishikesh, Dehradun and Mussoorie in Uttar Pradesh.
Kullu and Manali in Himachal Pradesh provides many short and long distance
mountain biking tours. Visitors can feel great to see the Himalayan beauty.
Mountain biking along Manali to Solang Valley is really unique and bikers
enjoy this uphill ride. Thre is another good biking option from Kullu via
Naggar which must not be missed.
Mountain Biking in
Sikkim
Mountain biking routes starts from Gangtok, the capital city of Sikkim and
moves to Martam village which is located at an altitude of 1363m. After
night stay proceed to Sirwani bridge over the Teesta river to the Temi tea
garden and see the tea plantation here. From here just make a short ride to
Ravangla which is located at an altitude of 2040m. Make an overnight stay in
Ravangla and then in the morning start for downhill ride to Legship(520m)
from there make a uphill ride to Tashiding(1470m). Visitor can stay here in
the night and next day move to Yuksam, a historical place of Sikkim. From
here bikers can make a upward ride to Pemayangtse(2085m).
Mountain
Biking in the Trans Himalayan Region
Tour starts with Delhi and after a halt in Shimla Bikers moves towards the
Kinnaur valley. Crossing Lahul and Spiti through Hindustan Tibet highway,
mountain bikers proceeds to Kaza. From there move to Rohtang pass and while
driving see the passes of Baralacha, Lachulungla, Naki La and Taklangla.
After reaching Taklangla move your bike towards Leh which is the final
destination of the adventurous ride.
What to Bring
Tourists must carry helmet, windcheater, waterbottles, sun glasses and
riding kit which must contain basic bike repairs tools. Along with this
before starting visitors must see that bike is perfect and equipped with
gears to climb in the slopes of the mountains.
